Seiya Brings Nikkei to the Rooftops of Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove's McFarlane Road keeps collecting the fall's most talked-about arrivals, and its next one is eight floors up. Seiya, a Japanese restaurant from chef Seiya Noborikawa, is set to open this season on the eighth floor of the Arya Hotel & Suites at 2889 McFarlane Road — a rooftop dining room with a view the Grove's other new tables can't match.

Noborikawa calls the concept "Nikkei Alterno" — a different kind of Japanese, built with Japanese precision and global soul. It is Nikkei cuisine, the Japanese-Peruvian meeting point, shaped by a chef who has cooked at Nobu Miami, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Sugarcane, Iki, and Osaka Nikkei Miami. The room is small and personal by design: an intimate rooftop setting where the chef's story lands one dish at a time.

No opening date has been announced yet, and the team was still "getting close" as of mid-September — but the restaurant has already hosted a preview tasting inside the unfinished space, a collaboration dinner with chef Reiji in late September. On a street that now holds Miami Slice, Levain Bakery, and Seiya within a few doors of each other, the Grove's new dinner row is nearly complete.

Know before you go: Seiya, Arya Hotel & Suites, 2889 McFarlane Rd, 8th floor, Miami (Coconut Grove). Opening date not yet announced — fall 2026.
